INTRO/BIO
Hello! My name is Cooper and I am an Olympia, WA area bassist. I currently play in the Olympia Symphony Orchestra as well as different jazz configurations in town with Susan Tuzzolino, Steve Luceno, Ariel Calabria, Dave McCrary, and Dave Cohen (among others).
I teach lessons for 45$/hr if you come to me and 55$/hr if I go to you.
I studied extensively with the mighty bass legend Richard Davis (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Davis_(bassist)), and have played with Bert Wilson, Linda Oh, Ingrid Jensen, Freddie Cole, Caili O'Doherty, Bob Sheppard, John Raymond, and Jeff Coffin (also among others).
I have scored 2 full length plays, Fermat's Last Theater Co.'s production of Franz Kafka's The Trial, and Madison Shakespeare Co.'s production of Richard the II, as well as numerous short plays.
I host White Knuckle Musicology Tuesdays from 4-6PM on KAOS 89.3 FM, a music history show, and I am the creator of Lullaby Utopia, an experimental sleep aid podcast/radio show (also on KAOS 89.3 FM 10-Midnight Thursdays) where I program my computer to play along with me, take binaural field recordings, and try to make as cohesive of a meditative sound space as possible. You can listen to all the episodes I’ve saved (since October 2018) here on my website.
The cooperative group Left Field Quartet of which I was 1/4 produced a full length album Please Take Us Seriously, which is pretty dope. We still work together on Alex Franzen’s Beat of the Week youtube channel, and on Lullaby Utopia.
